5 Things You Can Clean With Lemons

1. Clean the microwave

Lemons will work wonders in cleaning your microwave, getting rid of last weeks curry explosion and last nights chilli accident. Don’t underestimate the power of the lemon for a bit of green cleaning.

Instructions for cleaning a microwave with a lemon:

• Half fill a glass jug of water
• Cut some fresh lemon and squeeze a couple of slices into the water
• Add the rest to water as they are.
• Microwave it for 3 – 5 minutes
• Leave to stand for 5 minutes
• Remove jug and wipe everything down. 

Voila!

Often forgotten about the kettle is actually an important appliance to keep clean. Limescale builds and if you don’t clean the kettle it’ll end up in your cuppa tea or coffee.

Instructions for cleaning a kettle with a lemon:

• Fill your kettle with water
• Cut some fresh lemon and squeeze a couple of slices into the water
• Add the rest to water as they are
• Boil the kettle
• Leave to stand for 5 minutes
• Empty and rinse the kettle
• Fill up the kettle once more
• Boil the kettle
• Pour away the water

Cleaning your chopping boards should be a daily task, so here’s a tip on keeping them clean and smelling fresh. This little trick uses salt and is very effective. 

Instructions for cleaning chopping boards with a lemon and salt:

• Cut your lemon in half
• Squeeze one lemon half over your board
• sprinkle salt over your board
• Use the other half of lemon to rub the salt and juice into the board
• Give the board a good scrub with your lemon
• Rinse your board off

This is a nifty trick on keeping your sinks gleaming and smelling fresh. All you need is a little salt and half a lemon.

Instructions for cleaning your sink with a lemon and salt:

• Cut your lemon in half
• Sprinkle salt on one half of the lemon (cut side)
• Scrub your sink
• rinse / wipe everything down

Voila – So simple!

Getting some unpleasant odours when opening the fridge? A little bit of grime build up happening? Grab some lemon and you’ll need a little vinegar. 

Instructions for cleaning your fridge:

• Cut your lemon in half
• Squeeze lemon juice into a bowl
• Add some vinegar
• Get a cloth and clean your fridge
• Wipe everything down with a dry cloth / tea towel

Extra Tip: Leave some lemon slices in the fridge for 30 minutes to leave a fresh smelling fridge!
