Balloon and Dart Painting

This month we at Cleanhome are having a Kids Projects Month. This means our blogs this month will be focussed around simple projects you can do with the kids using household objects. Our project for the month is Balloon and Dart Paintings.

Things you will need:

  • Poster Paints
  • A canvas/Paper
  • Balloons
  • Darts or something to throw that will pop a balloon
  • Funnel

The Method:

  1. Using the funnel or any other method, add a small amount of paint to each balloon. Do not overfill the balloon.
  2. With a small bit of paint in the balloon, blow some air into the balloon and tie the end sealing the air and paint inside.
  3. Stand up your canvas or attach your paper to some standing surface.
  4. Make sure the area you are doing this is either covered or you do not mind it being covered in paint
  5. Attach the balloons to various positions on the canvas
  6. Finally the fun part. With the balloons all attached stand back and get ready to pop them.
  7. Throw whatever sharp implement you are using, such as darts, at the balloons. When they pop the paint will explode over the canvas leaving great patterns forming your piece of art.

Leave the painting to dry before moving from your covered area. If you want the painting to look exactly as it was when the balloons explode then lie the painting down to dry however for an added dripping effect leave hanging vertically until dry.
